Project
The project covers approximately 160 km, in the east-west axis, south of Algiers. The highway crosses five wilayas: Tipaza, Blida, Algiers, Boumerdès and Tizi-Ouzou. It starts west of Sidi Rached on the rmountain of Djebel El Bitri and ends on the RN 12 west of Tizi-Ouzou. In the wilaya of Tipaza and a large part of the wilaya of Blida, the project is located in the Mitidja plain.
Finally, in the wilaya of Boumerdès, the route remains in the centre of the wilaya. The alignment of the road remains on the reliefs of the foothills of the Tellian Atlas avoiding the escarpment.
The 3rd Algiers Bypass has the characteristics of a dual carriageway motorway (2 x 2 lanes) with two carriageways separated by a 12m wide median allowing future widening to three lanes per direction (2 x 3 lanes), a flexible pavement structure is adopted with a bituminous concrete wearing course, the width of the platform is 34.0 meters.

- Preliminary studies of three alternatives (technical study, economic feasibility and environmental impact);
- Summary Preliminary Design Study (on two route alternatives) with a multi-criteria comparative study;
- Detailed Preliminary Design;
- Preparation of the Tender Documents.
